A rural association which stands out from the crowd…
The Yakaar Niani Wulli Federation in Koussanar brings together farmers from Oriental Senegal (Tambacounda region) through activities which support an agro-ecological vision of the development of their lands. ‘Niani’ and ‘Wulli’ are ancient Manding kingdoms, united (‘Yakaar’ means together) in the fight against poverty, through promoting respect for the environment and for local values.
Founded in 1997, with around a hundred organic cotton farmers, the YNW Federation gained the statute of association in March 2005.
